Japan is very bi-polar on the issue of homosexuality. There are gay people are almost revered TV (o-nee-Mans - which means "big sister of men"), but I have heard a lot of really bad things, said gay men. Lesbianism seems to be under the radar (or maybe I am) a totally innocent.
I do not show it. But there are many gay clubs with fun entertainment in Japan. Stay away from love hotels - Accommodation is cheap, but sometimes there are hidden cameras in the bedrooms. . . .
Also for now, is Public Display of Affection still frowned upon. The boldest I saw on the street hand in hand and a hug or two airports.
Yes to accept gay here in Japan, I say most states. Anyway, I think it's better not to go together or to each other in public, as well as heterosexual couples do not do these things because of the public as impolite.
We wish you much fun in Japan. :)
